Time for Lunch Yet?

It's only 10:30, but we are already hungry for lunch around here! Although I personally feel that my demand for food over the holidays could be responsible for the increase in food prices around the world, I suppose there may be other reasons as well. Growing demand in third world countries and some inflation might be to blame.

Here are some charts that came out today from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, showing that 2010 was a record year for food prices in the recent past. One point of interest is on the yearly chart. Look at the plummeting slope in 2008 vs. the spike of 2010.
