Asus EeePad Slider - this month in the USA!

To us, it seems like forever since the Asus Silder was announced at the CES in Las Vegas. And if you look at the date, we're not so wrong with that. The CES took place in January, which means we've been waiting for eight months now. Why we're telling you this, now? Well, because we finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. It has been assured, that the device will ship at the end of September. Read on for the pricing and - in case you don't know them already - the specs.

For the 16GB version you're gonna have to pay about $475. If you wanna go for 32GB, you're gonna have to pay $100 more. But since the Slider sports a microSD slot and you can buy a 32GB card for about $45, it arises the question if these 100 bucks are a good investment.

And here are the specs:

  • 10.1 inch IPS display (resolution: 1280x800)
  • 1GHz dual-core processor (Tegra 2)
  • Android Honeycomb 3.2
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 5MP rear and 1.2MP front camera
  • full-size USB 2.0 port
  • mini HDMI and microSD port
  • dimensions: 273 x 180.3 x 17.3 mm
  • weight: 960 g

To our mind, those are pretty ... well, let's just say appropriate specs. But except for the slide-out QWERTY, there is nothing new at all about this device. We think if this had been released alongside with the Transformer or at least a few months earlier than September, this would have been a real killer. But considering that the new Kal-El quad-core processors are going to be available this year, we believe the sales figures aren't gonna be as Asus would like them to be.

Asus Eee Pad Slider: WiFi version in September?

Hey there, folks! Are you just as curious about Asus' newest tablet with its slide-out QWERTY as we are? We thought so. Therefore we've got someting for you. The release time and pricing- well, rumored ones, at least.

According to Tablets Magazine, the Slider is going go be released in September, this year. It'll have 32GB with WiFi only. In order to get this neat tablet, you're gonna have to pay 499€ (about $700) at its release. What about 3G? Our question exactly. Well, if we can take the rumors at face value, we can expect a 3G-enabled version in Q1, next year. Why? Due to software problems, most likely.

Honeycomb 3.2 for the Asus Transformer "soon"

According to Asus' Twitter post, they're currently testing Android 3.2 on their Transformer and will release it "soon". They didn't specify on that, but we hope that soon really means soon.
Mainly, the update packs some bugfixes. But it also supports 7-inchers like the HTC Flyer now. And last but not least, it sports a "zoom" function to scale smartphone apps to the higher screen resolution of tablets.

Asus A100 coming in September!

A lot of new tablets are out now: The Xoom, Iconia Tab, Transformer, iPad 2... But you aren't either interested in bulky 10-inchers nor in tablets which use Gingerbread like the HTC Flyer or the 2010 Galaxy Tab?
Well, in less than two months Acer seems to be ready to ship their 7-inch tablet running Honeycomb 3.2! Finally!

The tablet features the common specs like Tegra 2, 2x 1GHz, 512MB Ram and 1.024 × 600 Pixel.
But the great thing of it is the price! Some rumors say that it will cost only $350 (!) in the beginning! So nobody can say that tablets are that expensive anymore...
Great news. It seems that the tablets are finally getting cheaper. CG is very interested in this tablet and we hope that Asus will ship the A100, as announced, in September...

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer 3G listed! Starting at 499€!

Interested in buying a Transformer from Asus, but don't want to miss the 3G?! The Italian site of Asus listed the Transformer - including the 3G model! The price?
Well, like nearly all competitors, Asus wants 100 bucks more from us (= 16GB 499€, 32GB 599€). Anyway, we still have to wait about a month till Asus will ship the tablet...

Rumor: Successor of the ASUS Transfomer in this year?!

Bought the Transformer? Hmm, thought you are up-to-date for the next several months? Sorry, we have to say that your tablet might be outdated till the end of the year!
The Asus Transformer is just some weeks old, but there are already rumors about the successor!
There are some rumors which circulate through the world wide web, that ASUS wants to publish a new Transformer in October!
This sounds logical because at this time, Google will have finished programming Android 4.0 and Nvidia will be ready to ship the Tegra 3 (Kal-El quad-core!).
Again, we have to say that these are only rumors, but this might be a reasonable step by ASUS...
stay tuned for further infomations!

Asus shows off their "Padfone" at Computex 2011

Now you probably wonder, "what is a Padfone, a tablet or a phone?". Well, it's both. Behind that bulge on its back, hides a smartphone. Asus' idea of it is this: as long as you need sometihng portable, you use the phone and as soon as you need a bigger screen, you just put the phone inside the tablet which will even reload the phone's battery while inside.

So far we've got only a few information on specs: the tablet is going to sport a 10.1 inch screen and the phone's screen is gonna measure 4.3 inch. A 5 megapixel camera is built in the phone but will also be used by the tablet. As soon as the phone is inside, of course. But what version of Android will run it? Gingerbread for mobile phones or Honeycomb, which is specifically designed for tablets? Asus' answered, it's not going to run Honeycomb but it will indeed run the latest version of Android. Well, it's a hot summer and I'm sure everyone would appreciate some ice cream...

Asus Eee Pad Transformer going to sell 300.000 times in June

Asus Transformer Eee Pad

Finally, after weeks of issues, some good news for Asus: The Transformer will be the #1 Android-powered tablet in June. The CEO, Jerry Shen, says that he expects to sell about 300.000 Transformers this month. Including April, the Taiwanese company is going to sell about 400.000 tablets. Not bad at all, but the iPad is still the tablet to beat...
